Long Beach- 3 June 2011

I'm not sure whether it's because I'm an Aquaries or has grown up at the coast, but whenever I get a chance to go to the beach, it really energizes me. Living in Windhoek, that unfortunately happens only once or twice a year, but if I then find the perfect sunny weather with beautiful clear days and lovely sunsets, I'm double blessed (especially while the rest of my friends are shivering with winter cold in the rest of the country!)

In stark contrast to that, the lunar landscape outside of Swakop

And of course on the way back we had to make a quick stop at the magical Spitzkoppe

Kalahari Gemsbok Park- 31 March 2011

I love wild life and I love visiting new places. For years now I've been wanting to go to the Gemsbok Park in South Africa and at last I got to organize a trip there with friends and family. I wasn't one bit disappointed! Of course with all the rains this year the characteristic red dunes of the Kalahari as back drop was nowhere to be seen, but the variety of birds of prey, lions so close you can touch them, huge herds of game and of course the antics of the ground squirrel all more than made up for that.

Sossus vlei- 4 March 2011

I've never thought of landscape photography as my forte, but being in Namibia with its amazing sceneries, it's very difficult not to get enthusiastic about it. Especially now that we've had so much rain and the desert is transformed into a green paradise. When we visited Sossusvlei recently my dear, patient friend Dawid had to stop every few kilometers so that I could try and capture this rare beauty. Of course the real thing will always be much better, but I did manage to save a few memories of Creation at its best.
